just thinking of home… shot this in 2009; big island, hawai’i.
mmm… want… well, if that were shredded chicken and not kalua pig. LOL
i miss manju… especially Okinawan sweet potato manju… and basically anything with ‘uala/ube/o.s.p.
though this technically ISN’T manju—it’s Mitsuba Delicatessen’s Sweet Potato Crumble from back home in Kalihi… of course :( i want to go home damned it!
this is probably one of my favorite houses back home… as a kid i used to fantasize that i lived in that house… whenever i’d go running or body boarding down there, i would stop and have a little moment… call me cheesy, but there was just something about that house that i found so nostalgic and awesome… i miss you little house!!!
this is probably one of my most favorite photos of all time so far… you don’t expect to see something like this in Hawai’i, but it’s there… and it’s magical… and it’s gorgeous. i’m so lucky and proud to call Hawai’i my home and even prouder to say that i am Native Hawaiian.
